» Geography Teachers' Association of SA Inc.

The DD Harris Awards are for teachers and exiting teachers who have demonstrated a strong passion and commitment to the teaching of Geography as was so wonderfully demonstrated by the late DD Harris.   DD, as he was affectionally known, was one of the founders of the GTASA and maintained a strong link with the association for over 60 years until his death in 2001.  DD Harris also wrote many books on the geography of South Australia which became standard texts in South Australian classrooms.  It would have been a rare student who did not study from the book 'The Geography of South Australia' during their school years in South Australia.  DD Harris also emphasised the need for teachers to co-operate with each other and to share their skills and knowledge.  To such an end we hope this award for teachers encourages such cooperation and sharing and in turn reward and recognise innovative and committed geography teachers.

We invite nominations for the award via the attached DD Harris Award application form
