The Eden Prize is being conducted on 2009 by the GTASA in collaboration with the Department of Education and Children's Services. This competition is a great opportunity for Year 10 students in DECS schools to enter a competition and showcase their communication and geographical skills.  As the attached information sheet shows, the competition has some great prizes and will really challenge students to think about haw we can make the world more sustainable for future generations.

Here is some information about the prize:

* The competition is open to all Year 10 students in DECS schools who have comments to make about the world in which we live.  The prizes for the competition are provided from the 1956 bequest of J.J. & Lydia Eden who requested in their wills that the Minister of Education conduct a competition for young people in South Australian public schools on the topic of making the world a better and happier place.  The competition task will be changed annually to keep the competition unique from year to year.

* Keeping to the spirit of the original bequest, the task developed by the GTASA for 2009 is for students in their entry to make a response to the following question:

* This years question is:  "What can the individual do to make the world more sustainable for future generations."

 * The entry can be in the form of a 500 word essay, computer presentation (maximum of 15 slides), website (maximum of 10 pages) or video production (maximum of 5 minutes).  Please note that the entry must be from an individual and not a group.
